Hey look, the Idols learned to sing!

Yeah, so, the top 10 Idols brought their A-game tonight singing songs from the year they were born. I think it was one of the best nights they've had this season.

Maybe it's because I didn't watch the show with my computer on my lap and instead watch it the way I've always watched it before: painting my toes and drinking wine (except when I watched it with Micaela and Aaron, of course. Then I was only drinking wine.)

Bad hair rocker David, Syesha and Hot Aussie finally impressed me! Chikezie and Brooke continue to make me smile. And then there's the rest.

Ramiele was stuck in the cursed first spot singing Heart's “Alone,” which (spoiler alert!) is a Sonia iPod favorite. I'm not sure what she was thinking, because that song has already been performed this season by Carly and, memorably by Carrie Underwood a few seasons back. Ramiele did a nice job with it, but by the third or fourth singer I had forgotten about her. I suspect voters will do the same.

The dreaded one sang Sting's “Fragile” ... and that's all I remember about it. OH, I also think he smoke a big, fatty one before his interview segment.

Syesha did “If I Were Your Woman” and surprised me by really good. I've been completely unimpressed with her all season. It was nice to be reminded of why she's made this far. I don't think she's amazing. I don't think she's going to win. That said, I thought she was quite good this week.

Chikezie got old school for “If Only For One Night.” I liked it, because I like that kinda of old school R&B song. Of course, the judges knocked him for being too old school, but I think there is no such thing. Still, it wasn't a flashy performance and some of the other singers really outshined my boy tonight. He might be in the bottom three and that makes me sad.

Brooke White stayed behind the piano (whew – no awkward dancing) for “Every Breath I Take” and suddenly I felt sooo old. Sigh. Anyway, I was surprised by the start, stop, start at the beginning, but I'm glad the judges didn't knock her for it. I've been to plenty of “real-life” concerts in which the singer started a song, messed up and started over. I love Brooke, but I agree with Randy and Simon on this one: It was great until the band kicked in about halfway through. Once the band kicked in, the song got cheesy. Still, I think the first half of the song was pretty damn cool. I think Brooke will make it another week.

Hot Aussie finally lived up to his Hollywood Week potential by taking on Queen's “We Will Rock/We Are The Champions.” I thought he was fantastic, and he is oh-so dreamy.

Scary Carly took on Bonnie Tyler's “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” but sadly it wasn't The Dan Band version. “I fuckin' need you tonight ...” She looks so angry singing, like she's not having any fun. It's good to take the competition seriously, but I think she's taking it too seriously. I wonder if she will kill herself if she doesn't win. She already had a record deal once and it didn't work out. Maybe she feels like this is her last chance. By the way, I thinking all of that while she's singing, because it was so uninspired. I wouldn't be surprised to see her in the bottom three again.

OK, here's the deal with Little David. He can sing. Unfortunately, he never sings anything I want to listen to. He sang a song I've never heard of and I know every one-hit wonder from the 90s. Technically, he sang it well, but I was sooo bored. And Simon nailed it: It was totally theme park. It's was very “Hooray for Everything.” Simon also questioned whether or not Little David actually picked that song himself. I concur. Me thinks someone has some stage parents ...

So anyway, I was enjoying the show and having such a good night, drinking wine and painting my toes until (cue dramatic music) ...

“OMG I'm like totally racist” Kristy sang “I'm Proud to be an American.” Look, I don't care what the judges said about it being her best performance on the show. That's not high praise. I've picked up better performances from Homer in a little plastic baggie during our walks. In other words, IT'S STILL SHIT. I thought it was pitchy. I hate the song. It makes me gag. I hate Kristy. She makes me gag. She just rubs me the wrong way. I kept hoping that an anvil would fall from the rafters and crush her. Now, that's entertainment. You know what would make me proud to be an American? If no one voted for her and she went home this week. Come on people, who's with me? Let's vote for change!

Last but certainly not least, Bad Hair Rocker David performed a rocked-up version of Michael Jackson's “Billie Jean” and, goddamn it was pretty frakin' cool! I really loved it. I still don't see this guy as a solo artist, more of a band frontman, but I'm starting to think he could win this thing. What do you guys think?

So, who kicked ass this week? Bad Hair Rocker David, Hot Aussie and Syesha. I still have love in my heart for Brooke and Chikezie.

Who sucked it? Well, obviously I'm going to say Kristy. I'm not sure she will be in the bottom three though. Some people eat up that patriotic crap. I mean, someone out there is buying Tobey Keith CDs.

Bottom three: Ramiele, Scary Carly and Chikezie with Ramiele (in the cursed first spot) going home. Don't think the first spot is cursed? Ask Amanda or Asia'h. Oh wait, you can't, because they got the boot after being in the cursed first spot.

Sonia nailed it!

Now that the Skunky one is finally gone we totally agree on these contestants. Neato! Sarah said that it looked like Carly was in a fight with her song. Heh heh.

Re: Sonia nailed it!

Sarah is right. I think Carly positively reeks of desperation right now. I wouldn't be sad to see her go.
